What is Thought Train?
Thought Train is a MacOS app which allows you to add your notes to your menu bar, allowing you to quickly reference what you’re busy with with a glance.
How does it work?
- Download the Thought Train app here.
- Unzip the zip file you’ll receive from Gumroad.
- Right click on the app and click “Open”.
What can it do?
Thought Train will by default display your latest entered note in your menu bar. You can check off notes by hovering over a note and clicking the green tick. Notes will be archived ready for deletion.
Does it support emojis?
Hell yes! Emojis tell a thousand words, to add an emoji you need to copy and paste them into the app. A quick-emoji button is planned though…
Why does the app disappear?
This is a known issue, when your menubar fills up and there is no more space left, the app disappears, we’re working on a way to get around this.
How do I enable scrolling notes?
By selecting more than one note to display, they will invariably begin scrolling across your menubar.
How do I disable scrolling notes?
You can un-select a note by just clicking on the note’s text, you’ll see a faint blue background on active notes.
How do I archive a thought?
You can check off notes or archive a note by hovering over a note and clicking the green tick. Notes will be archived ready for deletion.
Can I delete a thought?
Yes, once you archive a thought, click on the “Show Archived Notes” button in the footer, this will bring up your archived or completed notes ready for deletion.
Does it support Dark Mode?
Yes it does! Depending on your Menubar mode, Thought Train will adjust its own theme.
How do you make Thought Train open automatically?
There are two things you need to do:
- Go to System Preferences
- Find Users & Groups
- In that window, click the small + icon under Login Items
- Find Thought Train, and click Add
